About this course

What is the Building Resilience: Bouncing Back from Setbacks course?

Building Resilience: Bouncing Back from Setbacks is a practical course focused on how people can respond constructively after workplace setbacks, disappointments and difficult periods. Participants explore how interpretation, attention, self-talk, available resources and recovery habits can influence the way they regain perspective and take the next useful step.

Participants learn to distinguish what happened from the story built around it, recognise common reactions, reframe unhelpful conclusions, identify what remains within their control and plan realistic recovery actions. The emphasis is on constructive recovery rather than denying difficulty or forcing positivity.

The learning is experiential. Participants practise self-observation, setback mapping, perspective taking, reframing, resource identification, recovery planning, mental rehearsal and future pacing. They then create a practical resilience plan for realistic workplace setbacks.

This course develops non-clinical workplace resilience and self-management skills. It is not therapy, counselling or clinical treatment and does not replace qualified medical, psychological or other specialist support where these are required.

Separate

Separate learner responses, language, attention and participation without making unsupported assumptions.

Separate-state selection

Acknowledge what a constructive resolution process should achieve without predetermining another person’s decision.

Constructive reframing

Use grounding, reflection and perspective-taking techniques to regain a more workable view of the situation.

Separateing and listening

Act alternative meanings and contexts that reduce rigid interpretations of setbacks or uncertainty.

Separateing and listening

Identify personal, interpersonal and organisational resources that can support recovery and next steps.

Review and refinement

Translate resilience insights into realistic actions, recovery routines, support choices and review points.

Why organisations run it

What business problems does this course help address?

These are common resilience challenges organisations may want to address when employees experience setbacks, disappointment or adversity.

Recovery focus are unclear

A difficult event can be interpreted as proof that future attempts will fail, reducing willingness to learn, adjust and continue.

Setback awareness stays superficial

A setback may trigger broad self-criticism or negative predictions that make recovery and learning more difficult.

Perspective recovery and de-escalation stay vague

Disappointment can narrow attention toward what went wrong while obscuring resources, learning and remaining choices.

Constructive reframing feel inconsistent

Energy may be spent trying to change what has already happened instead of identifying what can still be influenced.

Constructive reframing feel hard to access

People may try to recover alone even when feedback, colleagues, managers or other resources could help.

Recovery lacks a plan

Without deliberate reflection and next steps, setbacks can continue to affect confidence, focus and future action.

Course benefits

What participants will be better able to do.

Participants will leave with practical resilience techniques for understanding setback responses, regaining perspective, reframing unhelpful conclusions, identifying resources and creating realistic recovery actions.

  • Use reframing to develop more useful interpretations of mistakes, rejection and disappointment
  • Practise simple techniques for regaining composure and workable perspective
  • Act state-management tools for emotionally charged conversations
  • Use perspective taking to examine the setback from multiple useful viewpoints

  • Use mental rehearsal and future pacing to prepare for renewed action after a setback
  • Create a practical resilience plan with recovery actions, support choices and review points

Why organisations choose us

Post training supportA vast majority of training does not have any effect beyond 120 days. To work, training has to have a strong pre- and post-training component. Post-training reinforcement helps individuals to recall the understanding and ask questions.

Blended learningLearning does not occur in the classroom. Virtually everybody prefers distinct ways of learning. Successful learning should have a multi-channel, multi-modal strategy.

We understand the industryWe’ve got a profound comprehension of the business, business design, challenges and strategy that our participants are in, and have designed the courseware to cater to their professional needs.

Course contentKnowles Training Institute’s material is relevant, of high quality and provides specific learning results. Participants will leave the training course feeling as they have gained a strong understanding and will also be in a position to execute what they have learned sensibly.

Course developmentThe workshop modules follow a systematic and logical arrangement. This structure helps to ensure that the course material allows the facilitators to deliver the course in a logical arrangement. Consider the subjects as building bricks into learning: our facilitators slowly build towards a comprehensive picture of the entire topic.
